The name

My friends and I grew up digging trails and riding bikes in the woods every weekend, camping, falling out of trees and building weird shaped jumps.

One day like all of us did in 2018 we were thinking of what incredible original name we'd use if we started a youtube channel, someone said 'Ugly something would be funny but thats a bit boring, so I suggested 'Ugli, with an i' because it's funny to say 'we're ugli' or something, it was generational creativity at the time... but I could not get the name/word out of my head and became obsessed with writing it everywhere.

How we got here

Something that quickly starts to matter more and more in our monkey brains when riding bikes is style, and what I believed was the most steezy thing when riding a bike was a white tee with something embroidered on it.

I couldn't find anything that I liked even at 14-15 years old I did not just want a little fur tree embroided onto a breast pocket, I'd see this pictures of crazy supreme/palace embroidery with 30 colours and huge designs and want an in-between of embroided detail and colour on small, simple, detailed designs (usually of some freaky little hooded fucker sat down after tagging whatever surface I thought I could draw

there was definite trial and error to get to this point with me spray painting random letters on itchy fruit of the loom tees before I found someone that would embroider my little crap photoshop drawings onto anything I wished which Is still the same print on demand supplier linked to this website today 8 years later.

The designs have been my creative outlet other than photography for the last decade really, from starting with some very at the time motocross inspired fonts and graphics to the much more geometric and bubbly appealing designs I like now, I think a lot of this is also due to me learning how to use illustrator instead of piling endless layer styles onto a photoshop text layer
